Press conference on trial running of Phase II of 12.5m deepwater channel of Yangtze River down Nanjing was held in Nanjing by the Information Office of China’s Ministry of Transport on May 8, 2018.

It is announced at the conference that Phase II of 12.5m deepwater channel of Yangtze River down Nanjing officially starts and is open for domestic and foreign vessels. Ocean vessels with capacities of 50,000t can reach Nanjing Port directly and the vessels with capacities of 100,000t can also reach Nanjing Port after proper unloading.

The 12.5m deepwater channel, which is 431km long from Nanjing in East China’s Jiangsu Province to Yangtze River mouth, is a key project in the China’s Outline of Yangtze River Economic Belt Development Plan and is completed with hard endeavor of seven years, witnessing major progress in building comprehensive transport corridor in the Yangtze River economic belt.
