Submerged Duct No.E10 Successfully Installed for Hongkong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Island Tunnel Project

On 24th March, CCCC-FHEC successfully installed the 10th submerged tube for HZMB Island Tunnel project. The installation spot is less than 70 meters away from the main waterway, and the maximum water depth is over 40 meters, however, precise installation is achieved with high risks.

Duct No.E10 is 180 meters long and weighs about 80,000 tons, the installation depth is over 40 meters, and the maximum depth is over 43.5 meters, The most difficult installation point is the sensitive installation position located between the temporary channel and Lingding waterway, while Lingding waterway is the main route for cargo and passenger vessels in and out of Hong Kong. Point of anchorage for the duct installation is less than 70m at the narrowest part, thus, difficulties are vastly increased for vessels navigation and offshore installation at the place.

The fleet for out-loading the submerged tube started to sail for the installation spot at 6:30am on 23rd March, and after five hours towage, six hours mooring and another six hours duct sinking, duct No. E10 was successfully installed on the spot at 1:40am on 24th March.
