The annual ceremony to honor the national distinguished scientists and research achievements in science and technology was grandly held in the majestic Hall of the People in Beijing on the morning of January 10, 2014. At the ceremony, the Key Technology for Construction of Offshore Deep Water Ports and Its Engineering Application, which had been jointly undertaken and completed by a number of well-known companies, including CCCC – First Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd. and its subsidiary – CCCC – Tianjin Port Engineering Institute, Ltd. was awarded the First Prize for State Prize for Progress in Science and Technology for Year 2013, showing that CCCC-FHEC has achieved new and significant results in scientific and technological researches and development.
The Key Technology for Construction of Offshore Deep Water Ports and Its Engineering Application has been a project of priority as listed in the Compendium of National Program for Long- and Medium-Term Scientific and Technological Development (2006-2020) and a major key project in the Program for Scientific and Technological Development in Highway and Waterway Transportation for the Eleventh Five-Year Plan Period by the Ministry of Transportation. The project has been listed as the biggest development project in waterway construction by the Ministry of Transportation.
With ten years of research and development, great breakthrough has been made in master-planning and operating of safe and high-efficient offshore deep water ports, design of new types of marine structures and new types of materials for marine structures, complete equipment and technology for rapid construction of offshore environmental protection projects, new theory and computation method for limit analysis of soil mass, and in-situ underwater automatic monitoring and measurement.
The key technology has already been used on more than twenty large-scale projects both at home and abroad, including the largest ore terminal in the world, a naval port and Doha New Port in Qatar, and has also been incorporated into 13 national and industrial standards and specifications, greatly enhancing the international influence of our marine engineering capability.
