World’s Largest Ore Terminal Built by CCCC-FHEC Put into Operation
The ore loading and unloading terminal in Dongjiakou Port Complex of Qingdao Port, which was executed by No.2 Eng. Co., Ltd of CCCC-FHEC was officially completed and accepted and put into operation on 9 Mar. 2013.
It is the first ore loading and unloading terminal capable of handling ore carriers up to 300,000 dwt (and structurally for ore carriers up to 400,000 dwt) that has been ever built in China, which is also the largest of its type in the world up to date.
The project consists of one iron ore loading and unloading terminal for ore carriers up to 300,000 dwt (also for orecarriers up to 400,000dwt, structurally) one iron ore terminal for ore carriers up to 200,000 dwt, and affiliated works. The iron ore loading and unloading terminal for ore carriers up to 300,000 dwt (also for ore carriers up to 400,000dwt structurally) totals 510m in length with a water depth of -25.0m, having a designed yearly throughput of 16 million tons in the near-term plan while the iron ore terminal for ore carriers up to 200,000 dwt totals 372m in length with a water depth of -19.20m , having a designed yearly throughput of 13 million tons.
The project was executed and completed by No.2 Eng. Co., Ltd of CCCC-FHEC, setting new world records in five aspects: the largest terminal, largest water depth, largest quayside container gantry crane, most advanced environment friendly system and information based operation system.
The whole team of No.2 Eng. Co., Ltd. of CCCC-FHEC, involved in constructing the terminal, encouraged by the spirits of “Fulfill every construction task as or earlier than scheduled in spite of flooding sweat”, made breakthroughs by constructing and completing the world’s largest 300,000 dwt (for 400,000dwt as well) ore terminal in only 365 days and the 200,000 dwt ore terminal in only 178 days. “Work whole-heartedly to your satisfaction” was implemented in the frontiers of port construction.
Operation of the terminal could lay solid foundation for establishing international shipping port hub and international logistic center in northeast Asia and for establishing massive bulk cargo collecting and distributing center in China. (Zhao Li)
