A ceremony of full load commissioning of the loading and unloading system and infrastructural works for Phase I of Shenhua Zhuhai Coal Storage and Transportation Center, general-contracted and executed by CCCC-FHEC, was held on 9 Jan. 2013.

At 7 am, the whole staff and workers engaged in the full load commissioning of the works were ready on their designated positions and Workflow Procedure No.133 for the unloading and stacking system was activated to have a final check of the systematic equipment before commissioning commenced. At 8 am, a coal carrier named “New Century No.198” carrying more than 50000 tons of coal was berthed to the wharf. At 9 am, the full load commissioning was commenced. Ship unloaders, UL2 and UL3, started unloading the coal carrier in the sound and flare of firecrackers, and, 15 minutes later, the fist bucket of coal was transported through S/R3 stacker-reclaimer to Stacking Yard No.2, symbolizing the great success of the first full load commissioning.

Phase I of Shenhua Zhuhai Coal Storage and Transportation Center includes quay works, loading and unloading system, and infrastructural works, of which, CCCC-FHEC had general contracted and executed the loading and unloading system and the infrastructural works, and contracted and executed Contract Package II of the quay works.

A total of about CNY 4.65 billion was invested in the Works of Phase I with its designed yearly throughput of 40 million tons. The project when completed will make Shenhua Group another “Wal-mart” in Southern China as a coal retailer, featuring rapid, prompt, efficient, and environment-friendly operation with low cost and making the port an important base with sustainable development for energy supplies.(Zhao Li)
