Hong Kong - Zhuhai - Macao Bridge Shown on CCTV

Super Works, a full length televised documentary recorded by CCTV, was telecasted on Channel CCTV-1 on September 24, 2012. The Hong Kong – Zhuhai – Macao Bridge jointly constructed with the effort of CCCC-FHEC was introduced in the first episode.

It took the crew more than a year to finish the five-episode series, featuring the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Shanghai Skyscraper Tower, Beijing’s Subway Network, Offshore Giant Wind Turbines and Super LNG Carrier Built in Shanghai. These great works demonstrated the increasing level of science and technology and the strong power and prosperity of the nation, and they have become a symbolic mark of the era.

The first episode introducing Hong Kong – Zhuhai – Macao Bridge lasted more than 50 minutes, presenting a magnificent and shocking scene. What are introduced in this episode in the way of video recording and interviews include the construction scale, construction environment, difficult field operation, and programming of the Bridge, and technological breakthroughs in respects of corrosion prevention, earthquake resistance, wind and wave resistance and typhoon resistance, as well as how to fabricate steel cylinders and the formwork for immersed tube. It is also highlighted that the construction crew overcome a lot of difficulties arising from busy waterways and frequently occurred typhoons and they have continuously promoted the progress of the works.

It is shown particularly that during the construction of the East Man-made Island, the construction crew of CCCC - FHEC successfully conquered technological difficulties by using the world largest vibrating hammer to settle the first steel cylinder in position, and the operation was completed before a typhoon hit there, demonstrating the tremendous construction capacity and technological power of CCCC - FHEC.
