Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Plant in Liaoning Province, the first nuclear power plant and the largest energy infrastructure project in Northeast China, was constructed with the participation of No.3 Eng. Co., Ltd of CCCC-FHEC. The plant’s first generation units was successfully trial-operated and incorporated into the power grid on 17 Feb., 2013. It is expected to be put into commercial use in May, 2013.

The whole project commenced in August, 2007 and was executed in two phases to construct six million-kilowatt nuclear power generating sets. For the whole project, CCCC-FHEC contracted and constructed the cofferdams, totaling 384.56m long, for both the water intake and discharge structures and the building works at the Water Intake, including the construction of water intake structures, wing walls and installation of relevant facilities.

It is learnt that Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Plant in Liaoning Province is so far a nuclear power generation project with the largest number of power generating sets under construction around the world. The nuclear power plant when completed in 2016 will generate 45 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. (Zhao Li)
